• Music of the Afternoon

    March 20, 2009

I have a confession. I love classical music. Have you ever met a 25 year old who likes opera? We’re few and far between but we exist…lurking in the shadows with our sweaters over our heads… hahah I kid. Anyway, I thought it’d be fun if once and a while I posted a song (no matter what the type) on here that I’m currently addicted to.

People think it’s weird that I like opera. Shoot, I even think its weird. haha Most people have probably heard it, enjoyed it an didn’t realize that it was opera they were listening to. For anyone interested in listening to it, I suggest starting with light voices. I call it POPer (Sarah Brightman, Andrea Bocelli, Russell Watson, Il Divo, Amici Forever, etc. etc.). They have great voices but they are geared towards the every day public. Eventually you’ll like their music and get curious about the likes of Pavarotti, Bjorling, Domingo, Sherrill Milnes and all those other guys that most people have never heard of.

Ok, here’s my submission for the week!

Singer is Natalie Dessay. I think anyone can appreciate this song and Natalie’s insanely amazing voice and range. She’s very good.

Feel free to comment and post songs you enjoy!

  • “My knee!”

    February 14, 2009

So the other day I looked in the mirror and realized, “Oh…my…gosh. My hair is as thick as a husky’s.” I got in my car and headed down to where I typically get my hair cut. I tend to think that because of how simple of a hairstyle I have (military cut) that stylists love having me there because they’re done working on me in 5 minutes. So at around 4:59 minutes into the cut, I was all done, ready to leave. The nice lady took the nylon sheet thing off from around my neck and I stood up, turned around, only to see her falling, quite slowly, to the floor. Have you ever been close to a person who tripped, but as they were falling, you froze, helpless and useless? That was me as she was heading down to the cold, tile salon floor. She had tripped on her own razor’s extension cord. As she rolled onto her back she was in a little bit of pain saying, “My knee!” while holding her forehead with both hands. By the looks of it, I thought she hit her head but I guess her knee hurt more.

I helped her up and we sat her in a chair that normally sits a customer and I tried to make light of the situation and cheer her up. She was obviously embarrassed but we all know what it’s like to fall in front of a people. Not fun. It’s funny LATER though. 🙂 I’m definitely no stranger to falling. I’ll tell you one of my hundreds of “clumsy Nate” stories. For now though, enjoy this hilarious video of people falling and be happy that they’re all OK and you weren’t in the videos! 🙂

  • Facebook

    January 21, 2009

Facebook is great. Yes, they ARE paying me to say that. 🙂 If it weren’t for Facebook, I would not have been given the opportunity to meet up with a high school friend and her family for this session a few days after Christmas.

You’ll never meet anyone nicer than these people. I’m a nice guy, but they make me look like a jerk. haha More photos and big news coming soon everybody. Stay tuned.

  • 2008 is almost gone…

    December 20, 2008

I don’t know about you guys, but 2008 was quite the year. I’d have to say 2008 was probably one of the most eventful years of my life. Sure I’m only 24 but give me a little credit! 🙂 With Christmas almost here, we professional photographers are at our busiest trying to meet deadlines, make shipments and of course make people look their best. Below are a few portraits I’ve taken that I liked. Hope you like them too!

First up we have Ashly. <– She wanted me to make sure I spelled her name right so please, no emails about a missing ‘E’ in there. 🙂 Ashly (again, no emails….) talked a big talk about how she used to model and well……she talks a big game but backs it up too. That’s rare. She made the shoot go real smooth. It’s too bad we got kicked out of that cool parking garage by security. Oh well. 🙂

  • Queens and Brides

    November 15, 2008

Hey, everybody! I’ve been pretty busy the past few weeks and havin’ a lot of fun taking some location portraits (what do ya know?! My favorite kind of portrait! haha). First up we have Danielle. Danielle is getting married next Saturday. She’s a good friend and I’m happy for her. Next up we have Ilse. Ilse won homecoming queen at UNLV so we went to Lake Las Vegas and found some nice backgrounds. Lake Las Vegas is always fun to be at. It feels like I’m a tourist every time I’m there…I dress way cooler than a typical tourist though. 🙂 Enjoy the photos!
